I'm delighted to welcome lots of new buddies to our buddi bench™ collective. I also want to celebrate our established supporters. I'm really grateful to have you all as buddies.

I thought this an apt opportunity to summarise exactly what the buddi bench™ project is & aims to achieve. Here's the text taken from my website:

buddi bench™ - creative responses to human distress - chat | connect | care. buddi bench™ encourages human connections to improve mental health & wellbeing. Offline: buddi bench™ provides beautifully made oak benches in your local parks & pavements all over the UK. 10 minute chats.

what is buddi bench™?

buddi bench™ encourages connections both offline & online - creative responses to human distress.

offline

The central offering of buddi bench™ is to provide beautifully made benches in local parks & pavements all over the UK. Ideally we’d like to provide a buddi bench™ in every park in the UK that wants one. By sitting on a clearly marked buddi bench™ it will encourage any adult walking past, that is aware of the buddi bench™ concept, to join you and have a chat for around 10 minutes. To discuss anything you like.

buddi bench™ isn’t only a provision for the lonely, troubled & isolated. buddi bench™ welcomes everyone, whoever & however you are. Who wouldn’t benefit from the odd friendly chat with a kind stranger?

blogs, vlogs, newsletters, podcasts, a YouTube channel, art & more

A key offering if you sign-up to our mailing list, is to enjoy Seth’s WWOW! factor - Weekly Words Of Wisdom!

We use online ways of connecting with you to further the awareness, reach & impact of buddi bench™. We hope that Seth will feel better for having shared some ideas with you & you will feel a little chirpier from taking a slightly different look at the world. A win, win.

what is the buddi bench™ philosophy?

buddi bench™ focuses on creative responses to human distress. Our core premise is that the principle antidote to the majority of challenges facing us as individuals & at the level of society, is connection. Isolation, whether physical or a-state-of-mind, generally leads to poor emotional wellbeing. It is vital that humans regularly spend time with other kind humans if we are to stay physically & emotionally well. Humans are pack animals & need one another.

The unifying thread throughout our content & creations is a laser-like focus on ideas & actions that help humans thrive. Creating a laundry-list of all that is wrong in our world is too easy & not necessarily part of the solution.

By focusing on creative, philosophical & practical ways to connect with each other we hope to reduce unnecessary emotional distress & to help people to realise their true exponential potential.

what is buddi bench™ trying to achieve?

We make no apologies for being ambitious.

We hope to:

- encourage chats between people that would not ordinarily meet

- replace feelings of loneliness with a sense of connection

- replace our ideas of ‘stranger danger’ with the concept that a stranger is simply someone we haven’t yet met.

- remind us that whatever our differences we all share a common humanity. No ‘us & them’, only ‘us’

- disseminate media, online & offline, seeking to bring out the best in us all

- create a more friendly, inclusive, safer, understanding & compassionate society

Please help me to bring a buddi bench to your local park by forwarding this post to your friends, family & colleagues. Sharing this post with your contacts is the no.1 way you can help Seth & buddi bench™ create friendlier, happier & safer neighbourhoods across the UK.
